Clients who have a Medicare card are able to access a Mental Health Care Plan through their General Practitioner (GP) and will receive a rebate of $96.65 per 50 minute session. The cost of a session is $220, which means that you would pay a gap fee of $123.35. If you have registered for the Medicare Safety Net, you would also receive a higher rebate after meeting the threshold.
Clients are also able to claim a rebate from their private health insurer, however the rates may differ from insurer to insurer.
Val is also able to see clients with WorkSafe and TAC claims. Clients are responsible for the gap fee if Worksafe or TAC do not cover the full costs of a session.
Concession rates are also available for concession card holders, however limited spaces are available.
Payment for sessions can be made through a HICAPS machine onsite, and you should receive your Medicare rebate (if it applies to you) within two days.
The APS National Schedule of Recommended Fees 2023-2024 has the standard 46 to 60-minute consultation fee at $300. Val’s fees are significantly lower than the recommended rate.
